Open Source Ajax Push Engine: APE

APE (Ajax Push Engine) is an open source solution which is designed to push real-time data with only JavaScript on the client side.

The core of APE is an epoll-driven HTTP server, entirely written in C, which provides patterns such as XHR long-polling (cross browser), forever frame and many more.

The other part of APE is the Javascript Framework based on MooTools which deals with the APE protocol. On the other hand, users can decide what Javascript framework they want to develop with.

APE only uses web standards, no plugins are needed to be installed on the browsers & it works with all browsers.

It is possible to create various multi-user applications with APE as it can broadcast to hundreds of users with ease.

With a module support (currently with C but PHP support is on the way) the application can be extended & customized more.

L’altro giorno sono entrato a controllare un server di un cliente e lanciando un w mi sono ritrovato un uptime di 1033 giorni .. praticamente più di 3 anni… un record per me…

Oggi cercando qualche novità sulla rete sono finito su musicbrainz.org. Praticamente si tratta di un database collettivo che generando dei fingerprint da file mp3 ne riconosce i tag. All’atto pratico permette di impostare gli attributi dei file mp3 (come il titolo, l’autore, l’album, l’anno, ecc) in modo semplice e semi automatico. Sul sito vengono riportati anche i link ai vari software collegati al database e sicuramente vista la gestione degli mp3 fatta da iTunes è un must have…

Debian 4 !!! Finalmente….

Dopo due anni di attesa finalmente è uscita la nuova versione della distribuzione Debian chiamata Etch, la precedente infatti si chiamava Sarge e risaliva al Giugno 2005.
La debian è famosa per la sua stabilità ed è certamente la più adeguata per l’uso sui server. Questo rilascio porta un sacco di aggiornamenti e di nuove features tra cui sono sicuramente da segnalare il supporto per debian-volatile, il nuovo installatore e la definitiva obsolescenza dell’archivio Non-US.

Volatile serve per mantenere sempre aggiornati quei pacchetti che diventano rapidamente vecchi (come gli antivirus per esempio). Il nuovo installatore permette di fare un’infinità di cose nuove (tra cui segnalo l’installazione automatizzata). L’archivio non-us conteneva quel software non utilizzabile in america per via di leggi restrittive sulla crittografia; ora quelle leggi sono state abrogate e quindi l’archivio è stato rimosso.

Macfuse su Google Code

E’ stato rilasciato MacFuse ovvero il porting di FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace) nato sotto linux che permette di montare in maniera trasparente i dischi remoti non afp/smb/nfs. Per esempio è possibile montare un volume over ssh…. Il link è macfuse – Google Code

Leggere gli utenti exchange via ldap da AD

Configurando un relay per un amico ho trovato questo script che permette di leggere via LDAP da AD gli utenti con mailbox exchange in modo da rifiutare le mail per utenti inesistenti.

Per poi usare la lista bisogna aggiungere una cosa tipo questa a postfix
relay_recipient_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/exchange_recipients

Certificato SSL sul'E61

Stufo di dover sempre confermare la validità del certificato SSL ad ogni controllo posta dell’E61 l’ho finalmente importato sul telefono.

Tramite questo comando l’ho confertito in formato DER

openssl x509 -in picone.it.pem -inform PEM -out /tmp/picone.it.cer -outform DER

e poi via bluetooth l’ho inviato al telefono che aprendolo mi ha chiesto se salvarlo.
